26 August 2026 – The Government of the
Slovak Republic approved a draft amendment to Act No. 251/2012 Coll. on Energy
and related legislation. Among other changes, the amendment focuses primarily
on establishing a comprehensive regulatory framework for the hydrogen market.
The draft legislation must still undergo the legislative process in the
National Council of the Slovak Republic.

26 August 2026 – The Government of the
Slovak Republic approved a draft new Energy Efficiency Act and related amendments to other legislation. The
draft legislation must still undergo the legislative process in the National
Council of the Slovak Republic.

14 August 2026 – RONI published an analysis of wholesale electricity, natural gas and
emission allowance prices covering 2025 and the first half of 2026. The
analysis highlights increasing price volatility driven by the growing share of
renewable energy sources (RES), geopolitical developments and changes in market
trading arrangements.
RONI also notes that the wholesale electricity
price in Slovakia is approximately 35% higher than the average across the
monitored European markets and therefore supports the establishment of
smaller regional electricity markets. The analysis further emphasizes the
importance of energy storage development, system flexibility and stable
domestic generation capacity.

20 August 2026 – URSO announced the launch of a public consultation on proposed
amendments to the Operating Rules of SPP-distribúcia, a.s. Affected parties
were invited to submit comments on the proposed changes as part of the
consultation process until 2 September 2026.

31 August 2026 – The Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic is organizing a series
of regional seminars focused on financing opportunities for business
investments, digitalization, operational modernization and energy efficiency
projects through guaranteed loans combined with grants under the Programme
Slovakia. The seminars will take place between 16 and 23 September 2026 in all
regional capitals except Bratislava.

12 August 2026 – SEPS announced that, on 17 August 2026, it would publish a tender
procedure in the DAMAS Energy information system for the procurement of
ancillary services for the period from 1 September to 30 September 2026.
Providers of ancillary services will thus have the opportunity to participate
in the procurement process for services required to ensure the reliable
operation and stability of the Slovak electricity system during the relevant
period.

3 August 2026 – OKTE announced the 26th electronic auction of Guarantees of Origin
(GOs) for electricity generated from renewable energy sources and
high-efficiency cogeneration. The auction was held on 13 August 2026.
A significant change introduced in May 2026 allows
electricity producers and suppliers to offer Guarantees of Origin for sale
directly through the auction. At the same time, a new pay-as-clear auction
mechanism and a financial collateral requirement were introduced with the aim
of enhancing the efficiency and transparency of the Guarantees of Origin
market.

The Regulatory Office for Network Industries (ÚRSO) has issued four new decrees that, effective July 1, 2026, introduce significant changes to the rules governing the electricity and gas markets, price regulation, grid connection, supply of last resort, the provision of flexibility, and the development of hydrogen infrastructure.
